Senior Android Developer – Hybrid Platform (Native Shell)

Are you a seasoned Android Developer ready to step into a senior role where you shape architecture, guide junior developers, and help feature teams scale? Then read on.

We’re looking for 2 Senior Android Developers to join a platform team responsible for building and maintaining a native shell for a large-scale hybrid mobile application used by millions.

Your Role:

You’ll be part of a foundational mobile team that:

• Builds a native shell hosting hybrid content, enabling seamless integration with system functionalities (camera, biometrics, orientation, storage, etc.)
• Ensures the platform is optimized for Android
• Supports multiple feature teams and helps implement accessibility standards across the platform (zoom, screen readers, etc.)
• Stays ahead of OS updates (Android 16/17) and device diversity

What You’ll Bring:

Must-haves:

• 5+ years of Android development experience (Kotlin, WebView, native APIs)
• Strong grasp of architectural patterns, design decisions, CI/CD tooling
• Experience working in or with feature teams
• Ability to drive decisions and mediate between strong personalities
• Passion for code quality, optimization, and user accessibility
• Fluent English required (Dutch not necessary)

Nice to haves:

• Experience with hybrid app development frameworks or platform-level development

What You’ll Do:

• Mentor and collaborate with feature teams
• Own and evolve the native mobile platform
• Be a technical sparring partner in an opinionated and talented team
• Help navigate compliance and EU accessibility regulations

• Full-time position (40 hours/week)
• Hybrid working model – minimum 2 days per week on-site in Utrecht
