Position Overview

American International University (AIU) in Kuwait is seeking a strategic and hands-on Executive Director of Information Technology to lead all enterprise technology systems across the university. This senior leader will oversee the Student Information System (Banner), Learning Management System (Canvas), Customer Relationship Management (Salesforce), Enterprise Resource Planning/Finance systems (Oracle), and analytics platforms (Tableau).

The Executive Director will drive digital transformation, ensure operational excellence, and align IT initiatives with the university’s long-term strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development and execution of a multi-year IT strategy aligned with institutional objectives.
• Oversee implementation, integration, and optimization of core enterprise platforms (Banner, Canvas, Salesforce, Oracle, Tableau).
• Drive data and analytics initiatives to support decision-making and institutional effectiveness.
• Establish strong cybersecurity, data privacy, and risk management policies.
• Collaborate with academic and administrative leaders to assess technology needs and drive user adoption.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing IT team with a culture of innovation and service.
• Manage the IT budget, vendor relationships, and technology contracts.
• Ensure compliance with institutional, accreditation, and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (Doctorate preferred).
• 8–10+ years of progressive IT leadership experience, preferably in higher education.
• Direct experience with Banner, Canvas, Salesforce, Oracle Finance, and Tableau.
• Proven record in digital transformation, project management, and organizational change.
• Strong leadership, strategic planning, and communication skills.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, CISSP, ITIL, CCIO) are an advantage.
