VP of Engineering – Job Description

Location: Dubai / Hybrid

Reporting to: CEO

Type: Full-time



About the Role

We’re looking for a Vice President of Engineering to lead and scale our engineering organization. As a key member of the leadership team, you’ll define our technical strategy, drive execution, and build a high-performing team capable of shipping world-class products at speed. You’ll balance strategic vision with pragmatic delivery, ensuring our systems are scalable, secure, and positioned to power our growth globally.



Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Strategy

  • Own and evolve the company’s technology roadmap, ensuring it supports business priorities.
  • Build and scale an engineering culture rooted in velocity, quality, and accountability.
  • Act as a strategic partner to the CEO and product leadership, bringing technical insight into business decisions.


Team & People

  • Recruit, mentor, and grow a diverse engineering team across backend, frontend, AI/data, and infrastructure.
  • Develop clear career paths and progression frameworks for engineers and managers.
  • Foster a collaborative environment that balances innovation with disciplined execution.


Technology & Execution

  • Guide architectural decisions, ensuring systems are secure, reliable, and scalable.
  • Oversee the build and integration of our core stack:
  • Backend: Python (FastAPI)
  • Database: PostgreSQL (“Postgres”), with vector extensions (pgvector) for AI applications
  • Frontend: React with Next.js
  • Cloud: Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
  • AI: LangChain-powered integrations with proprietary data pipelines
  • Champion best practices: CI/CD, testing, observability, and security.
  • Ensure timely delivery of product milestones while managing technical debt.


Operations & Governance

  • Define KPIs for engineering productivity, quality, and system performance.
  • Manage budgets, vendors, and infrastructure costs.
  • Ensure compliance with data protection, privacy, and regulatory requirements across markets.


Requirements

  • 10+ years of engineering experience, including 5+ years in senior leadership (Head of Engineering, Director, or VP level).
  • Proven track record of scaling engineering teams from early stage (~10) to growth stage (50+).
  • Strong technical depth in backend systems, data infrastructure, and cloud-native environments.
  • Exposure to modern AI/ML frameworks, data pipelines, or vector database technologies is a strong plus.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience operating in global, fast-paced, high-growth environments.
