Organization Unit Purpose

IB Operations & Governance also known as 'back office', provides support to the client facing teams known as the 'front office'. The front office generates business for the platform, and operations ensure that the transactions are settled in an efficient, controlled, timely manner. Investment Banking Operations is a specialist operations role that requires understanding of the Capital Market activities of the unit.

The purpose of this organization unit is to work side by side with business units across Investment Banking (Emirates NBD Capital Limited and Emirates NBD Capital PSC) so that business transactions are executed and administered successfully and smoothly. Governance team structure rules, practices, and processes to direct and manage the company efficiently.

Corporate governance is important because it creates a system of rules and practices that determines how a company operates and how it aligns with the interest of all its stakeholders. Good corporate governance fosters ethical business practices, creates transparent rules and controls, guides leadership, and aligns the interests of shareholders, directors, management, and employees which lead to financial viability.

Successful companies strive to have exemplary corporate governance. It is not enough for a company to be profitable; it also must demonstrate good corporate culture through environmental awareness, ethical behavior, and other sound corporate governance practices. The four P's of corporate governance are people, process, performance, and purpose.

Job Purpose

The job holder is expected to handle the following responsibilities:

  • Assist the Head of Governance by closely collaborating with Business, Operations, and IT.
  • Assist in implementing identified opportunities to automate and make processes more efficient to ensure EmCap business teams are served effectively.
  • Liaising with various internal stakeholders such as GOPS, IT, Tanfeeth, business teams, OpRisk, Legal, and Compliance to meet project deliverables per timelines is also part of the job.
  • Raising identity requests for folder access and project IDs.
  • Review project IDs and access rights on a monthly and quarterly basis to meet audit requirements.
  • Support the line manager in preparing materiality assessments, reviewing, and following up for closure
  • Tracking IT risk items on AMN, ensuring they are closed promptly.
  • Collation of MIS data from different teams in EmCap on a weekly/monthly/quarterly basis
  • Follow up on RFIs, surveys, and questionnaires from the regulator or markets and work with the business to complete them by the due date
  • Annual SCA and related markets license renewal procedures, as well as licenses for any new activities.
  • Keeping track of all data requests from the regulator and ensuring they are addressed on time by working closely with EmCap Compliance is essential.
  • Any concerns about data leakage or cybersecurity events should be highlighted to EmCap Gov. and Compliance.
  • Escalate any suspicious transactions or fraudulent activities highlighted by Business or Compliance to the EmCap Head of Governance & Operations for further review and action.
  • Work closely with Business and Operations to remediate any customer data or agreement-related gaps or issues.
  • Conduct annual BCP tests for both EmCap entities
  • Assist in implementing the Workflow Management System with the Digital team
  • The individual will help prepare board files
  • Ensure all user access reviews for the business are completed within the required timeframe.
  • Assist the Head of Gov. & Ops with any new initiatives taken up by EmCap, whether related to UAE regulatory requirements or overall organizational or process improvement.
  • Any other governance/business -related support to the Head of Gov. & Ops as needed.

Job Content

1. Automation Project

  • Assist in implementing identified opportunities to automate and make processes more efficient to ensure EmCap business teams are served effectively
  • Participate in internal discussions/conference calls to form a consensus on the Project


2. Technology issues (open. Overdue & Ongoing) assigned under Emcap in AMN.

  • Technology related audit points and RCSA items
  • Interact with internal legal department, INA, Risk, Compliance, AWAI and any other related department for seeking their input/concurrence on documents or part of the document.
  • Participate in internal discussions/conference calls to form a consensus on documents.
  • Review and close items in AMN


3. Coordinating with different departments for the closure of audit points , RCSA items, BCP testing

  • Coordinate with Compliance, Legal, RISK, FIN, other concerned departments for the closure of open items and removal of bottlenecks.


4. Assist Head of Governance & Business Support

  • Assist the dept. head to manage the business support functions


5. IT support to the EmCap entities – for Workflow

  • Management system, ACBS system, and all web-based 3rd party vendor managed systems

Education

  • University Degree
  • Professional Certification in IT

Experiences

Industry

5 years in Investment Banking or Corporate Banking

Regional

5 years in UAE or the GCC

Functional

3-4 years in Business Support role or related

Technical:
