As a member of the Internet Operations Team, the Network Administrator will be responsible for implementing, maintaining and supporting CMTS Hardware, DOCSIS Technology, PON (Passive Optical Network) and other IP related services and technologies including routing and switching used in delivering our residential and small business Internet services.

You will work closely with other Network Administrators, the NOC, colleagues in operations, technical support, and other teams to ensure a consistently high level of service is provided to our customers over the various networks we are responsible to support.

Responsibilities

  • Provide management with insight into key issues on a regular basis.
  • Working closely with the Engineering staff in network deployment, projects, and maintenance.
  • Respond to support requests or escalations from internal contacts such as Technical Support, Business Sales, Field Operations, NOC and TPIA Support.
  • Deploy and support various network elements such as CMTS, PON OLT, RMD, and RPD.
  • Work as part of a departmental on-call rotation.
  • Provide actionable plans to resolve network performance issues as they appear.
  • Maintain current knowledge on technology platforms you are responsible for.
  • Perform software and OS upgrades on applicable platforms.
  • Self-manage project tasks assigned to you efficiently and on-time.


Qualifications

  • 2-5 Yrs Telecom or Cable Internet Engineering/Operations Experience.
  • Experience with CMTS and HFC networks.
  • Familiarity with DOCSIS protocol.
  • Understand the technical requirements for network operation and maintenance.
  • Experience with Cisco IP networks. (Cisco Certifications considered an asset)
  • Working knowledge of IP routing protocols.
  • Knowledge of Passive Optical Networks.
