Our levels aren't just places to walk through, they're spaces that tell stories, hold tension, and guide players through meaningful interactions.We're looking for a Level Designer who can craft tight, expressive, and system-aware environments for our JRPG-inspired projects.
This includes exploration maps, combat encounters, and narrative set-pieces, all with a strong sense of pacing, player flow, and readability.As a Level Designer on our team, you'll work closely with game designers, writers, artists, and engineers to bring the world of the game to life.
You'll be responsible for defining the rhythm, structure, and gameplay potential of the spaces players explore, ensuring that every corner feels purposeful and every step supports the experience we want to create.What You'll Do:Block out exterior and interior 3D spaces for optimal layout, flow, sightlines, and gameplay.Develop engaging and innovative game levels that seamlessly integrate gameplay mechanics with narrative elements, adhering to the game's core principles.Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Art and Narrative departments, to ensure a cohesive and immersive game experience.Participate in constructive discussions with other designers and stakeholders, ensuring levels meet the expected quality and align with the game's pacing and player experience goals.Utilize your proficiency in level design tools and software, particularly Unity, to create and iterate on level layouts.Maintain a balance between creative aspirations and the practical constraints of the project, such as timelines and technical limitations.Produce detailed documentation for game levels, providing clear and comprehensive guidelines for the team.What We're Looking For:Experience designing levels for games with exploration, narrative progression, or tactical encountersStrong sense of space, flow, player guidance, and moment-to-moment pacingAbility to prototype and iterate in a 3D environment on UnityDeep empathy for the player experience, especially how exploration and story interweaveFamiliarity with JRPG structure (e.g. dungeon design, overworld pacing, town/dungeon rhythm)Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively with cross-disciplinary teamsBonus Points For:Experience designing turn-based combat spaces and encountersUnderstanding of environmental storytelling, visual composition, and spatial narrativeTechnical knowledge of camera scripting, trigger systems, or modular asset workflowsLove for games that mix mechanical depth with emotional storytellingTo ApplyEmail us your resume and portfolio and feel free to include any details about yourself that you'd like to share.
