Senior / Lead QA Engineer – Stockholm

Location: Stockholm (Hybrid, 3 days in-office / 2 days remote)

Contract type: Permanent

We are seeking a Senior / Lead QA Engineer to join our growing tech organisation in Stockholm. This is a chance to take real ownership of quality across both API and frontend products, shaping how testing is designed, implemented, and delivered in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

You’ll be joining the Pensions product team, supporting two squads with around 12 developers. You will play a critical role in ensuring product quality across backend APIs and frontend/UI – helping us deliver cutting-edge, reliable financial technology solutions.

What You’ll Do

  • Define and implement the QA strategy across two product teams (APIs & frontend).
  • Translate business requirements and UI/UX designs into effective test scenarios, edge cases, and usability checks.
  • Build and maintain automated tests (API, integration, end-to-end UI) and embed them into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Perform exploratory testing to uncover usability issues and edge cases that automation might miss.
  • Collaborate closely with developers to ensure testability and reliability from the ground up.
  • Make informed decisions on automation scope based on ROI and long-term maintainability.
  • Actively contribute to our QA Guild, sharing best practices, tools, and new ideas.
  • Work with autonomy in Agile/Scrum teams, taking full ownership of end-to-end quality.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience as a QA Engineer, with hands-on expertise in both API and frontend/UI testing.
  • Strong automation skills with frameworks such as:
  • API: Rest Assured, Playwright API, Karate, Postman (or similar)
  • Frontend/UI: Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, TestCafe (or similar)
  • Solid programming skills in JavaScript/TypeScript (or another test automation language).
  • Strong understanding of test design patterns (e.g. Page Object Model, BDD, data-driven testing).
  • Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins).
  • Familiarity with debugging tools, accessibility testing, and exploratory test techniques.
  • Excellent communication skills in both Swedish and English.
  • Bonus points for experience with: Karate Framework, visual regression testing, UX/accessibility testing, performance or security testing.

Why Join Us?

  • Financial strength + startup mindset – enjoy the stability of a profitable, fast-growing enterprise with the agility and culture of a startup.
  • Cutting-edge technology – working with the latest in .NET, Azure, and DevOps, with freedom to experiment and upgrade.
  • Career growth & mobility – switch between core and edge teams to explore different tech environments, learn new skills, and shape your own career path.
  • Trust from day one – no micro-management, full autonomy, and technical leaders who understand the developer mindset.
  • Vibrant culture – social events, afterworks, summer parties, and company-wide celebrations (we’re celebrating our 20-year anniversary this year!).

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive salary (above market average)
  • 10% pension contribution
  • Wellness allowance (4,000 SEK annually)
  • Comprehensive insurance package
  • Training & development opportunities
  • Flexitime & hybrid working (3 days onsite, 2 remote)
  • 25 vacation days (option to push for 30 depending on candidate case)
