Harbour.Space Institute of Technology offers a unique work-study opportunity through its ML/AI Engineer Apprenticeship combined with a Master of Data Science programme. This programme provides project-based academic learning alongside an industry internship as an ML & AI Engineer, with full tuition covered through a scholarship.

Scholarship Overview

• Full tuition coverage for up to three years (Master’s programme)

• Successful applicants join the Harbour.Space Talent Pool and may be matched with sponsoring companies (industry partners)

• Candidates accepted into the Work & Study Programme will divide their time between academic study (approximately 3 hours/day) and internship experience (approximately 6 hours/day) with an industry partner

Eligibility Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, or a closely related field or equivalent practical experience

• Professional proficiency in English required to participate in both coursework and internship tasks

• Advanced skills and experience in Python, SQL, Spark/Scala, and Bash

• Proficiency in Big Data technologies such as Spark, HDFS, and Kafka

• Experience with data science techniques, including feature engineering

• Strong background in Machine Learning and Software Engineering

• Demonstrated problem-solving aptitude

Core Responsibilities

• Gather and extract actionable data from structured and unstructured sources

• Implement ML tools and techniques to select features, build, and optimize classifiers

• Preprocess, cleanse, and validate data to ensure quality for downstream analytics

• Improve data collection pipelines to enhance relevance and quality of information

• Analyze large datasets to detect patterns, generate insights, and develop recommendations

• Design, prototype, and iterate on predictive models and ML algorithms for a variety of applications

• Translate complex findings into clear, compelling visual presentations for both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Apprenticeship Summary

• Tuition: Full scholarship covering a Master’s degree in Data Science

• Internship: Approximately 6 hours/day on campus as an ML & AI Engineer

• Study Commitment: Approximately 3 hours/day for classes, plus additional homework

• You will complete 14 modules (each three weeks long) in one year
