Position overview
As a Geospatial Data Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in managing, processing, and analysing geospatial data to support Mitigrate's mission of reducing climate risks. Working with cross-functional teams, you will develop scalable data pipelines, integrate APIs, and contribute to the company’s remote sensing and geospatial analysis capabilities. This role meant for someone interested to grow rapidly into a mentoring and managing role in the short to mid term.

Key responsibilities
Data pipeline development
- Design and implement robust pipelines to process large-scale geospatial datasets.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in geospatial data workflows.
- Integration and automation
- Build and maintain APIs for seamless data integration with front-end systems and third-party platforms.
- Implement and manage cloud infrastructure on AWS using Terraform to support geospatial processes.
- Work closely with software engineers, data scientists, and product teams to gather and refine requirements for geospatial projects.
- Opportunity to quickly grow into a mentoring role to colleagues and manage a team in the mid term.
- Write high-quality, maintainable code, prioritising best practices such as code reviews and testing.
- Stay updated on emerging trends in geospatial engineering, remote sensing, and related fields.
Core requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Geoinformatics, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 1-2 years of experience in geospatial data engineering or similar roles.
- Proficiency in Python and libraries like Xarray, Geopandas, and rasterio.
- Strong understanding of geospatial data formats and processing techniques.
- Experience managing cloud infrastructure, particularly AWS and Terraform.
- Skills and attributes

- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience with AI-based software development.
- Background in developing enterprise software backends.
