A Day In The Life...

You will be joining the backend Development team at PetLabCo, reporting into the Lead backend Engineer. You will be helping to optimising backend tech stack, working on small tech projects such as updating APIs, creating new ones, creating and implementing new features and supporting on bigger initiatives.

You will have the opportunity to grow your technical skills with hands-on experience in a modern tech stack in a super-fast paced and exciting business environment. You'll work with a supportive team that values learning and career development and have the ability to contribute to a high-impact platform rebuild for a leading pet supplement brand.

Your day to day will look a little bit like this...

  • Participate in daily stand-ups and peer code reviews
  • Develop high-quality, tested Python microservices for AWS under guidance
  • Collaborate with senior engineers to implement technical solutions that meet functional needs
  • Learn and apply best practices to improve code quality and team processes
  • Communicate progress, blockers, and technical challenges to the team

Requirements

What You Need...

  • Relevant degree (IT, Engineering etc) or equivalent experience
  • 1-3 years of experience working with backend technologies (Python, MySQL)
  • Demonstratable project experience utilizing Python and MSQL or similar
  • Basic understanding of programming languages and paradigms, with a willingness to take feedback and improve
  • Enthusiastic self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset to work effectively with the team
  • Pasion for Learning and to grow in a supportive environment
  • Any exposure to the following technologies is a plus: Terraform, Microservices, API Gateway, Pydantic, Alembic, Lambda, or AWS Cloud
