Job Title - Cyber Security and Infrastructure Specialist
Location – Birmingham / Hybrid
Salary - £60,000
Lead the organisation’s operational cyber security infrastructure. Act as the primary SME for cyber operations, advising across the business and transforming legacy platforms into secure, modern solutions. Support key systems outside business hours and contribute to ongoing improvements in digital resilience.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and develop cyber security systems (cloud and on-premise); manage risk assessments, vulnerabilities, and security operations.
- Develop and implement the cyber security roadmap aligned with digital strategy.
- Provide 3rd line IT support and act as a principal escalation point for security incidents.
- Deliver complex projects and resolve critical support issues.
- Define and maintain security policies, procedures, and documentation.
- Drive automation across cloud and on-prem workloads.
- Ensure backups, disaster recovery, and performance of cyber systems.
- Collaborate with stakeholders on enterprise-level security architecture.
- Work with external suppliers and emerging cloud technologies to deliver scalable solutions.
- Participate in 24/7 support rota for critical systems.
Essential Experience & Knowledge
- Risk, vulnerability, and compliance assessments
- Penetration testing and remediation
- Cyber security system deployment (e.g. Microsoft 365, Azure, threat protection, patch management)
- Business continuity, disaster recovery, and incident response
- Cloud migration and hybrid architecture
- Security frameworks (e.g. NIST, MITRE ATT&CK, GDPR, PCI DSS)
- Tools and controls: Firewalls, IDS/IPS, DLP, SIEM, SOC, vulnerability management
- Security incident coordination and investigations
- Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and documentation skills
- Scripting and system automation knowledge
- Working knowledge of PaaS, SaaS, IaaS, and virtual environments
Qualifications
- Degree in Cyber Security or related discipline
- Relevant technical certification (e.g. CISSP, Microsoft Azure Security Engineer)
- ITIL Foundation (desirable)
