You are someone who loves crafting pixel perfect design, and deeply curious about how something is made — you will drive and apply our design language across various digital channels and platforms. You’ll partner closely with our Engineers, Product Designers, and Business SMEs in an agile environment to champion the CommSec design system, across beautifully crafted, seamless, and accessible experiences. You'll balance system thinking with hands-on design execution, and you’ll be a key voice in advocating design systems and standards and shaping consistency and quality in our products.
Key Responsibilities
- Creating detailed user interfaces for experiences across our various digital platforms and channels.
- Provide guidance, advocate, and actively contribute to the CommSec design language and design system.
- Conceptualise and apply systems thinking which shapes offerings that anticipates the needs of our customers in our identified problem space.
- Create prototypes and provide visual storytelling to influence future direction of our experiences.
- Create design documentation to be consumed by delivery teams in a scaled agile working environment.
- Working closely with engineering and the broader community to define and align on thoughtful contributions that align with our strategy and standards.
- Facilitate and participate in design critiques, workshops, and agile ceremonies, providing and receiving actionable feedback according to our design standards to continuously improve outcomes.
- Collaborate closely across a diverse range of stakeholders with varying levels of seniority and backgrounds across the agile lifecycle.
- Measure and validate impact post-launch, using a mix of qualitative and quantitative insights to iterate and improve solutions.
- 7+ years of experience designing digital/staff user interfaces in cross-functional product teams.
- Highly-skilled visual communication skills and a mastery of modern design tools (e.g., Figma, Adobe Creative Suite).
- Proven ability to design complex design systems, and creating usable, accessible, and modular designs in a sustainable manner.
- Experience in designing for native platforms in iOS, Android, and Web with working knowledge of Swift, Jetpack, React or similar.
- Proven track record of driving successful outcomes from other design systems. Confidence working across human-centred design methodologies with product teams in a fast-paced agile environment.
- Demonstrated understanding of code, with experience working within design frameworks and tokens.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills — you’re as comfortable sketching ideas on a whiteboard with engineers as you are presenting strategic concepts to executives.
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity and complexity, balancing customer needs with business goals.
- A portfolio that showcases strong user-interface craft and design system thinking, with measurable impact.
- Experience working in Financial Service, or another industry that combines physical and digital services
- Exposure to product design and the end-to-end product design lifecycle.
- Passion for mentoring others and uplifting the broader design craft in the organisation.
- You’ll work on products that genuinely impact people’s lives.
- You’ll be part of a highly collaborative, customer-first culture.
- You’ll have ownership and autonomy to shape the product as a key member of a cross-functional team.
