Role : Security Engineer-Cisco network security solutions

Location: Melbourne

Job Type: Contract


We’re seeking a motivated Security Engineer who is passionate about securing modern infrastructure and applications. You'll join a collaborative team to manage and enhance enterprise security platforms spanning network, application, and endpoint layers.

This is a great opportunity for engineers who have hands-on experience with some of the technologies listed below and are eager to expand into others. Training and mentoring will be provided to help you ramp up where needed.


Key Responsibilities

  • Operate, configure, and optimize Cisco network security solutions including:
  • Cisco FMC (Firepower Management Center)
  • Cisco ISE (Identity Services Engine)
  • Cisco EWSA (Email/Web Security Appliance)
  • Manage and fine-tune Imperva Web Application Firewall (WAF) policies and rules to protect public-facing applications.
  • Contribute to micro-segmentation strategy using Illumio or similar platforms.
  • Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and threat mitigation efforts.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to implement security best practices in networking and application delivery.
  • Write and maintain documentation (SOPs, diagrams, runbooks).


Required Skills & Experience

  • Solid understanding of network security concepts (firewalls, segmentation, VPN, IDS/IPS).
  • Hands-on experience with at least two of the following platforms:
  • Cisco FMC / Firepower
  • Cisco ISE
  • Cisco EWSA
  • Imperva WAF
  • Illumio Core
  • Experience troubleshooting and tuning security policies, ACLs, NAT, and rule sets.
  • Working knowledge of Linux, CLI tools, and basic scripting (Python, Bash, etc.) is a plus.
  • Strong documentation and communication skills.


Preferred Qualifications (Bonus)

  • Certifications such as CCNP Security, Cisco SISE, Imperva Certified, or Illumio Accredited Engineer.
  • Familiarity with SIEM/SOAR platforms and security monitoring workflows.

Understanding of zero trust, identity-driven access, or segmentation models
