Provide hands on technical leadership for the design, build and operation of Stockmann’s cloud native data platform, ensuring reliable, secure and cost efficient data products that accelerate analytics and AI use cases across the Stockmann Division.
Duties and responsibilities:
• Foundation – Finalize multi zone S3 data lake structure and lifecycle policies.
• Ingestion & Transformation – Migrate critical legacy pipelines to Glue based ELT jobs with automated testing.
• Redshift Optimization – Implement workload management queues and spectrum usage to cut query cost > 10 %.
• Observability & FinOps – Deploy end to end lineage, alerting and cost dashboards (CloudWatch, QuickSight).
• Team Processes – Introduce peer review standards, pair programming sessions and bi weekly architecture guild.
• People Leadership & Coaching - mentor and develop the data engineer(s); set clear goals, conduct regular feedback ; lead technical design reviews and pair programming sessions.
• Platform Architecture & Delivery - own and evolve the AWS based data platform architecture, centering on Amazon S3, AWS Glue and Amazon Redshift.
Job requirement:
• 7+ years in data engineering or related fields, with 3+ years leading cloud data platform initiatives on AWS.
• Proven delivery of production workloads using S3, Glue and Redshift at terabyte scale.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, information systems, engineering or a related field.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Prior line management or technical lead experience within distributed teams.
• Track record of modernizing legacy ETL/warehouse architectures to event driven, serverless patterns.
