Front-End Developer (React & Next.js)

Location: Remote - Anywhere in Europe

Contract Type: 6-Month Freelance / Contract

Our client is looking for an experienced Front-End Developer with strong skills in React and Next.js to join their team on a 6-month remote contract. You will collaborate closely with our product and design teams to build high-quality, scalable, and performant web applications. Experience in the life sciences industry would be a huge advantage, but it is not essential.

What you'll do:

• Develop, maintain, and enhance web applications using React and Next.js.
• Work with UX/UI designers to translate wireframes and mockups into responsive, high-quality code.
• Implement best practices for performance optimization, accessibility, and SEO.
• Integrate APIs and collaborate with back-end developers to ensure seamless data flow.
• Write clean, maintainable, and testable code with a focus on scalability.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to process improvements.
• Troubleshoot and resolve bugs, performance issues, and deployment challenges.

Requirements:

• Proven commercial experience as a Front-End Developer (3+ years preferred).
• Strong proficiency in React, Next.js, and modern JavaScript (ES6+).
• Experience with HTML5, CSS3, and responsive design principles.
• Familiarity with TypeScript and modern front-end tooling (Webpack, Babel, etc.).
• Knowledge of RESTful APIs or GraphQL.
• Experience with Git and collaborative development workflows.
• Good understanding of SEO best practices and web performance optimization.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and communicate effectively in a remote environment.

Desirable:

• Experience within the life sciences industry.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Vercel).
• Familiarity with testing frameworks such as Jest, React Testing Library, or Cypress.
• Understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies.
