Job Summary:
The QA/QC Engineer is responsible for ensuring the quality and workmanship of all construction activities across Civil, Architectural, and Structural disciplines. This role involves implementing, monitoring, and maintaining the Project Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure compliance with project specifications, standards, and contractual requirements. The QA/QC Engineer works closely with site teams, consultants, subcontractors, and vendors to achieve the highest quality of construction and timely closure of non-conformance reports (NCRs).
Key Responsibilities:
Quality Assurance & Control:
- Ensure all construction activities meet project drawings, specifications, and quality standards, both on-site and off-site.
- Develop method statements, risk assessments, job safety environmental analyses, Inspection Test Plans (ITP), and checklists.
- Conduct daily inspections, tests, and verifications to maintain quality standards.
- Review and approve site QC technical submittals, materials, and workmanship.
- Implement and monitor the Project Quality Plan (PQP) and all revisions.
- Carry out internal audits as scheduled in the PQP.
- Maintain and manage all QA/QC documentation including certificates, calibration records, test results, inspection requests, NCRs, site instructions, and material submittals.
Coordination & Reporting:
- Coordinate QA/QC activities with consultants, clients, site teams, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Attend project quality meetings and present reports on QA/QC matters.
- Liaise with the Technical Engineer for material submissions to the consultant.
- Ensure timely closure of NCRs and site instructions (SI).
- Monitor implementation of approved site QC plans and corrective/preventive actions.
- Participate in internal and external audits as required.
Leadership & Supervision:
- Guide, train, and evaluate site QC inspectors and project staff.
- Ensure QA/QC procedures are implemented in compliance with contractual requirements.
- Provide technical guidance on quality issues and ensure adherence to international and local QA/QC standards.
- Ensure all safety standards are maintained during site inspections and QA/QC activities.
Documentation & Compliance:
- Control distribution of QA/QC documentation to relevant personnel and subcontractors.
- Verify compliance of site activities with applicable codes, standards, and specifications.
- Prepare clear and concise reports, correspondence, and other written materials related to QA/QC activities.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering (or related field).
- Proven experience as a QA/QC Engineer in construction projects, preferably with multidisciplinary experience.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Strong knowledge of international and local QA/QC standards and practices.
- Ability to read and interpret contract documents, drawings, and specifications.
- Skilled in planning, assigning, and supervising QA/QC activities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and common project management tools.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and strategic planning abilities.
- Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
Other Requirements:
- Willingness to attend meetings outside normal working hours as per project/client requirements.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with consultants, clients, and subcontractors.
- Commitment to high-quality work and continuous improvement in QA/QC processes.
