Responsibilities

• Build front-end solutions using modern languages, frameworks, and libraries with a focus on performance, SEO, security, and accessibility.
• Develop responsive, user-friendly components and modules that deliver a seamless experience across devices.
• Integrate with third-party services via APIs, ensuring data is transferred and captured accurately.
• Collaborate with design and development teams to marry beautiful design with strong functionality.
• Provide accurate estimates, communicate progress, and flag risks or blockers early.
• Support and mentor team members, contributing to a culture of knowledge-sharing.

Technical Expertise

• WordPress Bedrock / Sage stack
• Custom Gutenberg blocks (JSX / React static blocks)
• Custom plugins and themes from scratch
• Modern PHP (8.x+) with Composer dependency management
• Headless WordPress (REST API / decoupled frontends)
• JavaScript frameworks/libraries: React, Vue, Next.js
• Build tooling: Webpack, Vite
• Accessibility and performance optimisation (Core Web Vitals, Lighthouse)
• Cloud hosting: WP Engine, Kinsta, AWS
• CI/CD with GitHub Actions and Bitbucket Pipelines

Experience You’ll Need to Succeed

• 5+ years of commercial web development
• Strong skills in HTML5, CSS, TypeScript, and SCSS/SASS
• Experience with automated testing tools (e.g., Cypress)
• RESTful web services integration
• Open-source and headless CMS experience (WordPress, Sanity, Contentful, Strapi)
• Git repositories with CI/CD development and deployment practices
• Structured data, cookies, session data, and analytics setup (GA, GTM)
• Building user interfaces with responsive breakpoints, cross-browser compatibility
• Creating and maintaining style/component libraries
• Building accessible web components (WCAG 2.0 compliant)
• Optimising sites for search engines
• Working with OWASP secure coding practices
• Bonus: experience with SSG in Next.js and Vite
