Green Light Worldwide have a requirement with our client partner for Software Engineering Manager join their team on Permanent assignment in Sydney. Software Manager will lead a team of engineers building plugins, tools, and systems that empower developers to create the best player experience possible. This is a hands-on leadership role where software manager will contribute technically while also coaching and growing the team.
 
This is an onsite position — remote is not an option. Client is happy to support domestic and international relocation as well as visa sponsorship for the right candidate.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Lead and mentor a team of 4–7 engineers, guiding their growth and holding them accountable to best practices.
  • Contribute as a senior engineer, solving complex technical problems and driving Unreal development improvements.
  • Partner with discipline and product leaders to define engineering vision and improve team health and effectiveness.
  • Foster collaboration with other engineering teams, building strong cross-functional partnerships.
  • Participate in technical discussions, code reviews, and design reviews, ensuring high engineering standards.
  • Champion hiring processes and help grow a world-class engineering team.
 
Requirements:
  • 7+ years’ professional experience as a software engineer.
  • 3+ years as an Engineering Manager or Tech Lead, leading and mentoring engineers.
  • Proven experience recruiting and scaling engineering teams.
  • Track record of delivering software products on large, multi-platform codebases.
  • Strong background in C++ or C# development.
  • Experience collaborating across multiple departments and stakeholders.
 
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in game development and/or with Unreal Engine or Unity.
  • Familiarity with automation in game or software development pipelines.
  • Passion for games and player-focused experiences.
