Senior Network Engineer

We are looking for a qualified Senior Network Engineer to install, secure, and maintain network systems, ensuring the highest levels of availability and performance. You will play a key role in supporting CloudHQ’s hyperscale data center operations in Offenbach, contributing both to ongoing operations and new project deployments.

A successful candidate will combine strong technical expertise in switching, routing, wireless, and firewalls with an understanding of how IT infrastructure interacts with complex building systems. You should be capable of managing both day-to-day network requirements and long-term infrastructure growth while upholding security and compliance standards.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, monitor, and maintain network infrastructure including switches, routers, wireless systems, firewalls, and VPNs.
• Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot firewalls (Fortigate, Juniper) and enterprise switches (Cisco, Fortigate, Juniper).
• Configure and deploy wireless access points and controllers (e.g., UniFi or equivalent).
• Provide input and deployment support for new data center builds and client proposal projects.
• Develop and maintain network deployment documentation and diagrams.
• Install and configure network and security management software.
• Respond to incidents and emergencies, including after-hours support when required.
• Ensure network security, resilience, and compliance with data privacy regulations.
• Plan and schedule upgrades, patches, and maintenance with minimal disruption.
• Maintain accurate logs of repairs, fixes, and preventive maintenance activities.
• Identify and resolve network vulnerabilities, inefficiencies, and performance bottlenecks.
• Travel occasionally (2–3 weeks per year) for site visits, client meetings, training, or conferences.

Requirements

• Proven experience designing and deploying networks for commercial or industrial environments.
• Hands-on configuration and deployment experience with Cisco and Juniper hardware, including VPNs.
• Experience with Fortigate firewalls and UniFi or enterprise wireless solutions.
• Familiarity with Layer 2 industrial protocols such as ModBus, BacNet, or DNP3.
• Strong knowledge of routing and switching principles, with the ability to prevent spanning tree loops.
• Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking, VLANs, QoS, redundancy protocols (HSRP, VRRP, MLAG).
• Strong knowledge of internet security and data privacy principles.
• Experience with network monitoring and management tools.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work across teams.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; OR 10+ years of relevant professional experience.
• Professional certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent are an advantage.
• Scripting/automation experience (Python, Bash) is a plus.
