Requirements
Senior DevOps Engineer – Apache Kafka (Remote)
We’re looking for a strong DevOps professional with hands-on expertise in Apache Kafka to join our team. The ideal candidate is passionate about building, automating, and scaling infrastructure that supports business-critical applications.
What You’ll Do
- Apache Kafka (mandatory): Configure topics, manage partitions, ensure high availability, monitor metrics (consumer lag, throughput), and troubleshoot message loss or latency.
- Design, develop, and maintain automation scripts, tools, and integrations (Python, Go, Java, or Bash).
- Build and manage cloud infrastructure on AWS, GCP, or Azure using Terraform / CloudFormation.
- Operate and scale systems with Kubernetes, ECS, or other container orchestration tools.
- Administer Linux/Unix systems (process management, permissions, tuning, security hardening).
- Configure and troubleshoot network protocols and services (TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS, VPNs, firewalls, load balancing).
- Implement observability practices with Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana, Dynatrace, Datadog, Jaeger/Zipkin.
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions).
- Diagnose and resolve production issues; lead root cause analysis and contribute to postmortems.
- Apply security best practices: secrets management (Vault), zero-trust, vulnerability management, and compliance (SOC 2, GDPR).
- Manage and operate other messaging/streaming platforms (e.g., NATS, MQ) as needed.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven DevOps / SRE experience in complex, high-availability environments.
- Deep, hands-on expertise with Apache Kafka (mandatory).
- Strong coding/scripting skills (Python, Go, Java, or Bash).
- Solid knowledge of Linux/Unix systems, networking, and cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure).
- Experience with IaC, CI/CD pipelines, observability, and security best practices.
