Job Purpose:
The role is responsible for leading the Business Continuity & Crisis Management section within the Department. The role will develop, implement, and maintain the organization’s Business Continuity Management (BCM) and Crisis Management frameworks, ensuring resilience against disruptions and effective response to crises. This includes identifying critical functions, conducting risk and impact assessments, developing continuity and recovery strategies, and coordinating simulation exercises. The position ensures preparedness, regulatory compliance, and organizational resilience while fostering a strong culture of business continuity across all business units.
Key Accountabilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain the organization’s Business Continuity & Crisis Management policies, frameworks, and procedures, aligned with ISO 22301, NCEMA Business Continuity, and other international standards.
- Ensure alignment of BCM and Crisis Management practices with the organization’s risk management, emergency response, and cybersecurity frameworks.
- Provide subject matter expertise to management on organizational resilience, governance, and regulatory compliance.
- Conduct regular Business Impact Analyses (BIA) and risk assessments to identify critical processes, interdependencies, and potential threats.
- Recommend appropriate continuity and recovery strategies to minimize downtime and safeguard organizational reputation, customer trust, and service delivery.
- Develop, update, and test Business Continuity Plans (BCPs) and Disaster Recovery Plans (DRPs) across business units.
- Lead the design and coordination of crisis management plans, including escalation protocols and decision-making structures.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure integrated and practical recovery solutions.
- Lead organization-wide awareness, training, and simulation exercises to ensure preparedness for business disruptions and crises.
- Provide coaching and guidance to business unit champions on their roles in continuity and crisis response.
- Monitor and report on the effectiveness of continuity and crisis strategies, highlighting gaps and driving continuous improvement.
- Prepare and present regular reports and dashboards to manage on readiness, compliance, and resilience.
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, industry standards, and internal policies.
- Ensure adherence to the organization’s information security policies (confidentiality, incident reporting, access management).
Job requirements:
Education:
- A minimum bachelor’s degree in risk management, Business Administration, or a related field is required.
- A master’s degree in business administration or risk management is preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum 8 years of experience in business continuity, crisis management, or risk management, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
Preferred Certifications:
Professional certification, such as Certificate of the Business Continuity Institute (CBCI), ISO 22301 Lead Implementer, or equivalent, is required.
