Job Summary
Reporting to the Director of Employee Experience & HR (HR Director), the HR Generalist will play a key role in improving processes, strengthening employee relations, and supporting the implementation of HR strategies designed to enhance the overall employee experience. The successful candidate will assist with recruitment and hiring, onboarding, training and development, performance management, employee relations, and offboarding. They will also serve as a trusted resource for employees, regularly engaging to answer questions, address concerns, and help resolve issues.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop and analyze HR metrics (e.g., turnover rate, cost to hire, time to hire, eNPS) and create reports with recommendations for improvement.
- Ensure legal compliance in all regions where Connexall operates by monitoring and implementing applicable federal, state, and provincial HR requirements.
- Work with the HR Director to research, develop, and implement HR policies, procedures, guidelines, structures, and HR software.
- Draft and manage employee agreements, promotion/change letters, and employment verification letters.
- Create and update HR processes and SOPs, including onboarding, offboarding, immigration support, HR presentations, and invoice verification.
- Support the HR Director with salary benchmarking, total compensation, benefits and pension programs (RRSP, 401K), base pay and bonus programs, and the continuous performance management program.
- Own the administration of employee group benefits programs by providing information and support to employees.
- Support Payroll by providing new hire paperwork, salary increases, termination details, and other relevant information in a timely manner.
- Track service anniversaries for vacation increases.
- Act as the first point of contact for employee inquiries, providing timely guidance and support.
- Conduct meetings with employees to discuss issues, conflicts, or concerns.
- Consult and advise managers and employees on policies, programs, processes, and legislation.
- In collaboration with the HR Director and General Counsel, conduct investigations, maintain records, and represent the organization at hearings (if required).
- Conduct and analyze exit interviews to provide insights on employee retention.
- Support with internal HR communications to ensure clarity and consistency in employee-facing messages.
- Work with managers to identify employee skill gaps and coordinate training sessions to close them.
- Collaborate with the training team to create training materials as required.
- Create and deliver training sessions for managers and employees.
- Assist the HR Director in developing reward and recognition programs to drive performance and engagement.
- Assist with recruitment as needed (backup to Recruitment Specialist), including job postings, resume screening, interviewing, background checks, and onboarding.
- Ensure new hire paperwork is completed and processed accurately.
- Create job descriptions, maintain organizational charts, track salary information, and vacation entitlements.
- Conduct and analyze surveys to improve recruitment and new hire experience.
- Maintain up-to-date, accurate and confidential employee files (electronic and paper).
- Initiate and manage the offboarding process, ensuring all requirements are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Support employees with immigration applications and record documentation (e.g., LMIA, OINP, Work Permits, PR documentation, etc.).
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field is required.
- Certified Human Resource Professional (CHRP) preferred.
- 3+ years of human resources experience required.
- Experience in a software company preferred.
- Knowledge and experience with Canadian applicable legislation (employment law, common law, human rights, occupational health & safety, etc) and HR best practices required.
- Knowledge and experience with US employment and labor legislation preferred.
- Exceptional communication skills; verbal, written, and presentation.
- Ability to understand, utilize, prepare, and analyze HR metrics to draw logical inferences and provide reasonable recommendations.
- Detail-oriented, with the ability to write business correspondence and create procedural and training documentation.
- Ability to multitask and manage time effectively by prioritizing a high volume of work and meeting deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal and active listening skills with the ability to facilitate conflict resolution.
- Must be analytical with good problem solving and decision-making skills.
- People-oriented with the ability to work individually or as part of a team.
- Must be resourceful, energetic, and display a strong desire to take initiative.
- Must be trustworthy with a strong sense of ethics due to nature of work and exposure to confidential information.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to accurately and thoroughly monitor work for quality and ensure standard specifications are met.
