About the Role:
Position: Software Test Engineer
Location: Hybrid (Vancouver, BC)
Summary:
Development Support Platform
The Development Support team member works with development teams to provide early testing, documentation creation (e.g. test cases and test briefs, QA Confluence pages), and handles basically anything that could potentially keep a Core QA team member out of the game.
They provide feedback to the QA Leads on the health of their area/feature(s) and to the development team on the testing of their area/feature(s). They are the primary contact for our QA team, fielding design questions from Core QA and are the initial development teams first point of contact for asks on the status of testing, or to adjust the testing Core QA needs to complete.
Requirements:
- Multiple development cycle, experience with a focus on platform testing
- Strong understanding of:
- Hardware Compatibility – Ensuring the game runs smoothly on different versions of a console or PC hardware (e.g., high-end vs. low-end PCs).
- Operating System & Firmware Compliance – Making sure the game adheres to platform-holder requirements, including OS updates and security patches.
- Performance Testing – Checking frame rates, resolution, input latency, and loading times to ensure a smooth experience on all target platforms.
- Input & Controller Testing – Verifying that different input devices (controllers, keyboards, mice, adaptive controllers) work correctly.
- Online & Network Features – Verifying cross-platform multiplayer, matchmaking, and cloud saves work correctly across different platforms.
- Storage & Installation Testing – Checking how the game installs, uninstalls, updates, and handles storage across different devices.
- UI & Display Compatibility – Ensuring proper resolution scaling, aspect ratios, HDR support, and accessibility options work across various screen sizes.
- Save Data & Progression – Making sure game saves function properly across platforms, including cross-save and cloud synchronization.
- Experience writing testing instructions or briefs.
- Experience estimating testing efforts.
- Willingness to learn new technologies and develop/refine skills.
- Strong documentation and organization skills.
- Strong communication skills, comfortable interfacing with QA and Production teams.
Recommended:
- Unreal Engine experience
- Jira, Confluence, Perforce and SharePoint experience
- Adaptable teaching skills (teaching to lots of different types of learners)
- Familiarity with the Console games with AAA.
Salary Range: $55,000 to 65,000 Annually Factors that may affect pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
