Role Overview

We’re looking for an experienced pro-active full stack developer to help us build innovative, sustainability-focused platforms that process and visualize complex environmental data. You’ll work across the stack, with a strong emphasis on creating intuitive, responsive front-end experiences for complex geospatial data visualization, while also contributing to robust back-end services using technologies such as React, Next.js, TypeScript, Node.js, and Django.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop responsive, interactive user interfaces using React, Next.js, and TypeScript
• Implement interactive mapping solutions using Mapbox GL JS and other geospatial libraries
• Integrate frontend applications with backend APIs and real-time data streams
• Develop and maintain backend services and APIs using Python and Django REST Framework
• Design and maintain PostgreSQL databases with PostGIS for spatial data
• Collaborate closely with environmental modeler, frontend and design members to deliver new features and improvements

Required Skills

• Minimum of 4 years professional experience as a full stack developer
• Strong proficiency in React, Next.js, and TypeScript with modern frontend development practices
• Familiarity with mapping libraries, preferably Mapbox GL JS or Leaflet
• Responsive design skills and CSS frameworks (Tailwind CSS, Material-UI, or similar)
• Experience with state management solutions (Redux, Zustand, or Context API)
• Solid Python and Django REST Framework experience
• Experience with PostgreSQL and spatial databases
• Proficiency with Docker and containerized development
• Excellent communication skills in English
• Ability to work independently in a startup environment

Preferred Skills (nice to have)

• Advanced experience with Mapbox GL JS, GeoJSON, and geospatial data formats
• GDAL/OGR, GeoPandas for geospatial data processing
• Experience with Celery and Redis for distributed task processing
• Knowledge of parallel computation with Xarray and Dask
