Are you an Industrial Designer with a passion for audio products? If so, we want you to join our team at ADAM Audio!
We're dedicated to audio excellence and are looking for a talented designer to shape our product portfolio. In this role, you'll collaborate closely with our Product, Engineering, and Marketing teams to deliver truly innovative audio solutions. We're seeking a designer who champions the end-user experience and understands evolving market demands throughout the product development lifecycle and strategic portfolio planning.
What you'll be doing:
Your focus will be on translating market insights and user needs into compelling product visions and design strategies for our headphone portfolio (and loudspeakers). You'll work hand-in-hand with the technical and design team, bringing your expertise in form, function, and user experience to shape the aesthetic and tactile qualities of our products. The ideal candidate will leverage strong strategic thinking, profound consumer insight, and design innovation to craft products that resonate with producers, musicians, and creators, anticipating new use-cases in a rapidly changing industry.
Key responsibilities:
- Developing long-term design strategies and establishing a design system that unifies our portfolio and strengthens our competitive identity
- Liaising with Product Management, Product Design and the Technical Lead to convert designs into prioritized, actionable requirements, and coordinating with the Development team to realise your design vision
- Conducting user research and analysis specifically related to headphone usage, comfort fit, and interaction, to validate your design approach in pre-development stages. Applying principles of ergonomics and human factors to ensure intuitive design for comfortable extended wear
- Leading and reviewing the adaptation of 3D-data CMF. Driving the creation of prototypes from early sketches to mass-production (physical and digital) to test and refine designs. Researching and selecting fitting materials, finishes and manufacturing processes that meet the design criteria, performance and target costs
- Designing and validating key user interaction components with hardware and embedded software
- Proactively identifying new opportunities for innovation in designs, materials, and user experiences. Exploring and integrating sustainable design practices, including, recyclability, and energy efficiency, into headphones and product development.
- Finding ways to create value for the user through design decisions and long-term thinking
- Effectively communicating design concepts, and specifications to internal stakeholders and external partners
- have 3+ years of professional experience in industrial design, with a strong preference for experience in consumer electronics, wearables, or audio products
- have a compelling portfolio demonstrating a proven ability to take designs from concept to production.
- be proficient in industry-standard CAD software (Rhino 3D, SolidWorks and rendering software including Blender) and have expertise in Affinity Suite for 2D design and presentation
- have a solid understanding of design principles, CMF, aesthetics, form language, and human- centred design methodologies
- have fundamental knowledge of various manufacturing processes (e.g., injection moulding, CNC machining, stamping, fabric assembly) and material properties commonly used in consumer electronics, particularly headphones (plastics, metals, silicone, textiles)
- have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex technical requirements into elegant and user-friendly design solutions
- be a strong team player with excellent communication, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to collaborate effectively within a small, diverse group
- have a strong hands-on mentality to iterate on solutions and solve problems by proactively finding technical solutions via prototyping and testing
- be familiar with 3D-printing using FDM and SLA technologies, cutting, glueing and other hands-on modelmaking skills
- Experience with UX/UI design & familiarity with acoustic design are a plus!
Our priority is to find the right fit for the team and for the company, and we will always do what we can
to support your individual development. In other words, if you don't quite have all the experience listed
above, we'd still be interested in hearing from you. Let us know what you would bring to the role, and
why you'd be a great fit for the team.
We look forward to receiving your application!
