We are looking for an enthusiastic team player with a passion for technology and a love for working hands-on with network infrastructure. The Network Services team within WUR provides connectivity on the Campus in Wageningen, Lelystad and all other WUR locations throughout the country, including new buildings, lab environments and outdoor locations.

You have a broad interest in new developments in the field of ICT infrastructure and specifically WLAN. Your primary focus will be on maintenance, construction and renewal of the WLAN.

You are a driven network administrator who is working with his team on a state-of-the-art WLAN and a move towards WIFI first in WUR buildings.

You have an important task within the daily operation of the Wifi team, you solve problems, implement changes, come up with proposals for innovations and contribute to multidisciplinary infrastructure projects.

What will you do?

  • You will manage and perform regular maintenance, firmware upgrades, and configuration changes on Wi-Fi infrastructure, Cisco SDA.
  • You analyze and resolve (Wi-Fi) related incidents and tickets, and proactively think about structural improvements
  • You will participate in network maintenance and construction at all WUR locations and will be present at locations for a large part of the week
  • You are independently able to perform, interpret and create reports on a site survey.
  • Where necessary, you help with underlying infrastructure (border and edge switches) that ensure that the wireless can run properly on top of that.
  • You strengthen the cross-team work with other technical teams and thus strengthen the entire infrastructure chain

Your qualities

We Ask

  • At least 2+ years of work experience with enterprise Wi-Fi networks, preferably in Cisco infrastructure environments
  • You have a good command of the Dutch language
  • You are familiar with the Wi-Fi standards 802.11ac, 802.11ax (Wi-Fi 6/6E) and 802.11be (Wi-Fi 7), and understand the impact of RF parameters such as SNR, roaming, channel planning and airtime.
  • Willing to work occasional consignment duty.
  • In possession of relevant certification such as CWNA/ENWLSI or willing to obtain it in the short term.
  • Experience with Cisco Catalyst Center is an advantage – you will actively work with this in this role.

Depending on your experience, we offer a competitive salary of a minimum of € 3,482 to a maximum of € 5,478 for a full working week of 36 hours in accordance with the Collective Labor Agreement for Wageningen Research (scale 9 or 10). In addition, an appointment of 0.8 FTE is negotiable. We offer you a one-year contract, with the intention of converting it into a permanent contract.
