About The Intelligence Unit Team
In recent years, Dealroom has gained a strong reputation for high-quality content and data for venture capital firms, startups, corporates, and governments. Insights and content curated by our Intelligence Unit frequently runs headlines in The Economist, Financial Times, The New York Times, and other leading titles. Research and insights are critical to reinforce Dealroom’s thought leadership and branding, generate new leads and bring value to existing customers, as well as explore and show to the ecosystem what is possible with our data. A key focus for the unit is also to productize and embed our research more and more interactively inside the platform, such as helping discover hot startup sectors or fast growing tech ecosystem.
As a Research Associate, you’ll
- Craft amazing insights: Leverage Dealroom data to create compelling insights on trends within startup and venture capital ecosystems, and emerging innovation sectors.
- Manage projects: Lead research projects end to end - from ideation and client management, to data analysis and storytelling, to enable governments, investors and corporates to make better data-driven decisions.
- Drive Improvements and Efficiency: Identify ways to improve how our data are accessible and structured, how our research is carried out, and how insights are accessible to customers.
- Learn and Grow: Gain deep expertise in Venture Capital, funding cycles, ecosystem benchmarking and analysis, as well as data quality management, and grow under the guidance of our Head of Research and Head of Content.
What You Bring
- Experience: 1-3 years of work experience in delivering research and/or experience related to the venture capital ecosystem or data platforms.
- (Technical) Expertise: Proficiency with Google Suite & Microsoft Office, with a strong emphasis on Google Sheets, Google Slides and Excel. Experienced in SQL, Google BigQuery, and tools like Datawrapper is a plus.
- Project Management: Proven ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines with excellent project management skills.
- Analytical acumen and attention to details: Organized, logical with a genuine interest in improving data quality, crunching numbers and playing with data to discover interesting trends and angles in our data platform.
- Communication skills: Advanced speaking and report-writing skills for effective communication. You know how to turn insights into a compelling narrative for our readers, create influential reports, data charts, and eye-catching taglines.
- Academic Credentials: A completed degree in Business Information Technology, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Computer Science or Content Management (but we very much welcome candidates from diverse backgrounds to apply) - or equivalent work experience
- Passion: A demonstrated enthusiasm for technology, startups, and venture capital markets.
- Mindset: A proactive, accountable, and urgent approach to work.
- Adaptability: Comfort in a fast-paced startup environment where continuous learning, OKRs, ongoing feedback, and curiosity drive success.
- Eligibility: Eligibility to work in the EU and fluency in English. Additional language skills are welkom / wilkommen / bienvenido / kyaosopartaal.
