Overview
The Estimation/Proposal Engineer plays a crucial role in the organization by preparing accurate and timely project cost estimates, proposals, and bid packages. This role is essential for securing new projects and ensuring profitability.
Key Responsibilities
Reviewing project specifications and drawings to determine the scope of work
Conducting on-site evaluations to gather necessary information for accurate estimates
Preparing material, labor, and equipment cost estimates for various projects
Developing and maintaining a database of historical cost data for future reference
Collaborating with various departments to gather input for proposal development
Creating and submitting comprehensive proposals in response to client requests
Participating in pre-bid meetings and site visits
Managing the entire proposal process to meet internal and external deadlines
Assisting in value engineering initiatives to optimize project costs
Updating and improving estimating processes and documentation
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
Proven experience in cost estimation and proposal development in the engineering or construction industry
Proficiency in estimation software
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for proposal writing and client interactions
Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
Project management experience, including the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities
Knowledge of industry best practices and regulations related to cost estimation
Attention to detail and accuracy in estimating and proposal preparation
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
