We’re seeking a Product Assurance (PA)/Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer with a strong background in software engineering and space product assurance to join our team in Diegem, near Brussels, Belgium.


You will contribute to internal space projects linked to the European Space Agency (ESA), playing a key role in ensuring software and system quality, with direct impact on the success of high-profile missions.

Tasks and activities

The scope of work will include:

  • Defining and maintaining PA/QA requirements and plans based on ECSS software engineering and product assurance standards.
  • Monitoring and controlling the software development lifecycle, ensuring that all quality requirements are fulfilled.
  • Guiding project teams in the implementation of QA best practices, ensuring traceability, compliance, and risk control.
  • Participating in design, code, documentation, and test reviews, enforcing preventive and corrective actions where necessary.
  • Conducting internal quality audits focused on software development, configuration, and release management.
  • Participating in progress meetings, project reviews, colocation meetings (ESA) with the review of the QA/PA documentation and Review Item Discrepancy (RIDs) management.
  • Supporting the project non-conformance process (NCRs) and attendance/organization of non-conformance/anomaly review boards (NRB) internally as well as with our subcontractors.
  • At equipment level, participating in the different reviews, Mandatory Inspection Points with realization of Software PA activities.
  • Helping in the process for evaluation and approval of contractors’ requests for waivers (RFW) and deviations (RFD) with respect to baseline.
  • Supporting the test preparation and execution, including test data and environment setup, manual and automated testing, oversight of code quality gates and strategy to improve the products.


Skills and experience

The following skills and experience are mandatory:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely Engineering field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in software engineering, quality assurance, or software process auditing.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, together with a high degree of organizational and communication abilities, alongside being comfortable working in a diverse and multinational team environment.
  • Desire to work both autonomously and as part of a team, in an international multicultural environment.
  • Solution oriented mindset, with a customer focused communication skill.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.

The following skills and experience would be highly desirable:

  • Experience working on ESA projects or in a space/aerospace software environment.
  • Background in managing subcontractors’ PA activities.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and Scrum frameworks.
  • Experience with cloud-native development, containerization, and automated testing.
  • Some background in RF systems, signal processing, or ground segment development is a plus.
  • Knowledge of ECSS standards:
  • ECSS-Q-ST-10 / ECSS-Q-ST-20
  • ECSS-E-ST-40C and ECSS-Q-ST-80C
  • Hands-on experience with:
  • Configuration management in complex systems.
  • QA processes in software development environments.
  • Tools such as SonarQube, Jira, Bitbucket/GitLab, Docker, and CI/CD platforms (e.g., Jenkins).
