The Azure Host Storage team, part of Azure Core, develops scalable and high-performance storage solutions that support Microsoft’s cloud infrastructure. The team’s mission is to enable Azure hosts to support increasingly dense workloads, including efforts to expand the number of virtual machines a modern host can efficiently manage.

As a Software Engineer, you will contribute to the Storage Client stack, which includes Azure BlobCache, a distributed caching layer for blob storage and the Disk Abstraction Layer, a foundational component that standardizes disk operations across environments and serves as the primary interface for virtual machine and disk provisioning. You will also support performance optimization and architectural transitions, such as migrating components to System-on-Chip platforms and enabling host offload strategies through initiatives like the Minimal Host Partition, a streamlined operating system architecture designed to improve servicing performance and reduce latency variability.

This opportunity offers the chance to accelerate your career growth, deepen your systems engineering expertise, and contribute to mission-critical infrastructure. The team fosters cross-functional collaboration and supports flexible work arrangements, including partial remote work options.

Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. As employees we come together with a growth mindset, innovate to empower others, and collaborate to realize our shared goals. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.
