About the role

We’re looking for a Product Designer to join Firebolt on a part-time basis (20 hours per week). In this role, you’ll help shape and evolve the experiences our customers interact with every day.

Design at Firebolt is about turning something highly technical - like working with a database - into an intuitive, elegant, and enjoyable experience. You’ll collaborate closely with engineers and other teams to simplify complex workflows, create clarity where there’s ambiguity, and deliver experiences that our customers truly love.

This is a great opportunity for a designer who wants to have a big impact in a fast-moving startup environment, while working in a flexible, part-time capacity.

What you’ll do

• Own and evolve Firebolt’s product design language, ensuring consistency and usability across all experiences.
• Translate complex technical workflows into clear, intuitive, and delightful user journeys.
• Conduct research and gather insights to deeply understand our users and theirneeds.
• Develop wireframes, prototypes, and visual designs that balance usability with aesthetic quality.
• Work closely with engineers and cross-functional partners to bring designs from concept to reality.
• Continuously improve the experience by incorporating user feedback and tracking engagement metrics.
• Contribute to the long-term vision of design at Firebolt, shaping how users experience our platform as we grow.

Requirements

• 3+ years of product/UX design experience, ideally working on complex or technical products.
• A portfolio that shows your ability to simplify complexity and deliver user-friendly experiences.
• Strong skills in design tools like Figma.
• Excellent communication skills - you can clearly explain your thinking and bring others along.
• Comfortable working independently and collaborating with distributed teams.
• A self-starter who enjoys taking ownership and driving projects forward.

Bonus if you have

• Experience working in fast-paced or startup environments.
• A background in designing for data-heavy, developer, or B2B products.
• Knowledge of design systems and accessibility best practices.
