Drive innovation in media with rapid AI prototyping and applied solutions
Are you passionate about applying AI in real-world editorial workflows and experimenting with intelligent tools that change how media organizations work? Do you thrive in environments where coding, rapid prototyping, and product strategy converge?
We’re looking for an AI Prototyping Engineer to join our growing AI team and help shape the next generation of AI-powered publishing. Depending on your location, this role will be based in either our Copenhagen, Aarhus, Oslo or Hamburg office and you will be reporting to the Director of Product Management. We value flexibility, and you will have the opportunity to work from home from time to time to support a balanced and modern work life.
As AI Prototyping Engineer, you will play a hands-on role in testing and integrating AI models into our existing products, experimenting with new tools and frameworks, and exploring opportunities before they move into development and production. You will collaborate closely with product, development, and newsroom teams to validate ideas quickly and ensure our AI capabilities deliver measurable value while respecting editorial standards.
Key responsibilities:
- Experiment with AI models, frameworks, and open-source projects to identify opportunities for newsroom automation and content enrichment.
- Rapidly prototype integrations with our existing products, testing different setups and coding lightweight solutions.
- Evaluate the performance, accuracy, and usability of AI tools in real editorial workflows.
- Collaborate with product and development teams to transition validated prototypes into scalable solutions.
- Ensure AI implementations align with journalistic best practices, legal requirements, and ethical standards.
- Share findings, demos, and prototypes with stakeholders to inform future AI product initiatives.
- Showcase AI prototypes and features to internal teams and customers, supporting sales enablement with hands-on demonstrations.
Qualifications:
- Experience in data science, applied AI, or product prototyping, ideally with exposure to media or content environments.
- Hands-on experience experimenting with AI models, LLMs, generative AI tools, or open-source AI projects.
- Ability to code and prototype lightweight integrations (e.g., Python, JavaScript, or similar) to test AI capabilities in real workflows.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to design and run experiments, evaluate results, and iterate quickly.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with product, development, and UX teams.
- Exposure to newsroom operations or content production workflows is a plus.
- Fluency in English; German is a plus.
Key skills:
- Curious and experimental mindset with a passion for trying new AI capabilities.
- Ability to translate exploration into actionable insights and working prototypes.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Pragmatic approach to balancing rapid experimentation with realistic product constraints.
