The Azure Cost Management and Pricing team is looking for a Software Engineer to help shape the future of cost transparency and pricing tools across Microsoft Azure.

This Software Engineer role offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of cost optimization and pricing estimation, delivering solutions that help organizations visualize, monitor, and manage their cloud spend while planning future investments.

Responsibilities

  • Designs and develop suser-facing experiences for Azure Cost Management, enabling customers to track cloud usage, analyze trends, and optimize efficiency.
  • Builds and maintains robust APIs that power cost management dashboards and integrate with other Azure services.
  • Contributes to Azure Pricing + Calculators, including services like Cost Card, Pricing Calculator, and Microsoft Pricing Experiences.
  • Collaborates with product managers, designers, and other engineers to deliver seamless experiences on the Azure Marketing Site.
  • Ensures high performance, reliability, and scalability of services used by millions of users globally.
  • Drives engineering excellence through code reviews, automated testing, and continuous integration.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline with proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python,
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • Software development experience.
  • Experience building scalable web applications and/or RESTful APIs.
Other Requirements

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical field AND 1+ year(s) technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C#, Java, or TypeScript,
    • Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field with proven engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C#, Java, or TypeScript,
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 1+ year(s) of familiarity with Azure services and cloud cost management concepts.
  • 1+ year(s) of experience with backend services (e.g., .NET) and frontend frameworks (e.g., React).
  • 1+ year(s) of proficiency with pricing models and cost estimation tools in cloud platforms.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Software Engineering IC2 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $84,200 - $165,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $109,000 - $180,400 per year.
