Job Description
We have developed our own Commodity Trading Risk Management (CTRM) system that covers all aspects of our business activities across the globe: from trade entry through the middle-office with P&L reporting, market risk management, credit, and accounting down to the invoicing and for whichever commodity we are trading – electricity, gas, coal, crude oil, LPG, or carbon emissions certificates. Vitol is unique in the energy trading world in making our CTRM the core of our business processes that everyone at Vitol works with, often on a daily basis.
As a member of the Analytics team, located in Geneva, Switzerland, you will:
- Drive the development of analytics web apps that are closely integrated with other parts of our CTRM system
- Work on apps for exciting and diverse functional areas, which will initially e.g. include our HR platform for the group (with multiple interfaced applications)
- Work closely with a range of users from different teams (e.g. Analytics, Infrastructure, Compliance, Accounting, ...) to identify and prioritize business requirements and propose technical solutions
- Turn user feedback into actionable design improvements and bug fixes
- Implement clean, well-documented, tested, and extensible code to satisfy business requirements
- Provide business applications support and training to users on day to day issues
- 5+ years of experience working with C# and related .NET technologies within global enterprise solutions with involvement into business applications change management and day-to-day operation and support
- Proven data modelling skills to translate business situations into data structures, proficiency in SQL
- Experience working in an agile scrum development model
- Proactive and user-focused, with a can-do attitude and a genuine interest in the functional as well as technical aspects of each challenge encountered
- Communication is a key element: giving and receiving feedback, being able to adapt your communication style to your audience
- Drive software development best practices
- Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and manage changing priorities
- Excellent English oral and written skills
- Experience with PL/SQL or a similar procedural DB programming language (e.g. T-SQL)
- Previous experience in the commodities and/or trading industry
- University degree (Bachelor or Master) in Computer Science, MIS, or an equivalent field
- French language skills an advantage
