About Gilbert + Tobin (G+T)

Gilbert + Tobin is seeking a high-impact Cloud Operations Engineer to lead the evolution of our internal platform capabilities. This is a hands-on technical role, focused on standardising infrastructure, accelerating delivery through automation, and improving the developer experience across the firm.


This role champions best practices in platform engineering, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and DevOps delivery. You'll work to embed governance, compliance, and operational resilience into our platform services. As an experienced individual contributor, you’ll mentor others, define engineering standards, and shape the firm's approach to modern infrastructure.


This role is ideal for engineers looking to expand their strategic influence while staying close to technology.


About You

You’re composed and methodical under pressure, with a mindset for continuous improvement. You enjoy collaborating across teams, solving complex problems and delivering practical, scalable solutions.


Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and improve AWS and Azure infrastructure
  • Automate deployment, monitoring and incident response
  • Manage CI/CD pipelines and container platforms (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Implement cloud cost optimisation and security practices
  • Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to deliver robust solutions


Key Skills And Experience

  • Proven AWS and Azure expertise, including IaC (Terraform, CloudFormation, Pulumi)
  • Skills in automation and scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python)
  • Experience with CI/CD, containers and hybrid environments
  • Knowledge of cloud governance, security and cost optimisation
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Four to six years in cloud or hybrid operations
  • Certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect Associate or Microsoft Azure Administrator are highly regarded
