We are looking for a People Support Hub Team Lead, Europe to join our team and drive excellence in HR operations.

This position reports to the Head of People Support Hub and the preferred work location is in Poland, Portugal, Spain or Hungary, but also other Europe locations can be considered. This role offers the opportunity to lead a regional team of HR professionals, ensuring efficient service delivery and continuous improvement in a global setting.

What you will be doing:

As the People Support Hub (PSH) Team Lead, you will oversee the daily operations of PSH in the region, ensuring a positive employee experience and contributing to the organization's overall success. This role will offer the opportunity to drive continuous improvement practice with practical operational expertise for excellent global service centre execution.

As PSH Team Lead, your work will focus on these responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership & Vision:

  • Lead HR activities in PSH, implementing HR strategies, policies, and processes to meet current and future human resource needs.
  • Adopts an entrepreneurial mindset, proactively providing direction and developing HR policies, practices and initiatives to ensure a safe and healthy working environment, to improve employee experience and HR business impact, and to align people and HR capabilities with the organization's objectives.
  • Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders, contributing to the success of HR processes and policies.
  • Provide expert guidance to leaders and managers on people-related matters
  • Transform and implement improvements to PSH for consistent global standards while being agile to local requirements.

Continuous Improvement & Service Delivery:

  • Serve as the first point of contact for Wärtsilä employees and leaders, ensuring the best employee experience across the employee lifecycle: Onboarding, Offboarding, Master Data, Reporting and Organizational Structure, Employment Documentation, Performance Management, Annual Clock activities (merit, incentive…), Payroll and Time & Attendance.
  • Within PSH scope, advises and guides managers with HR-related matters, partners with them to align HR activities with business objectives, and drives supporting HR projects and initiatives.
  • Monitor service level agreements (SLAs) and key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure high-quality service delivery, addressing and resolving escalated issues and inquiries.
  • Generate and analyse reports on PSH performance, identifying trends and areas for improvement, and providing insights and recommendations to senior management based on data analysis
  • Drive actively continuous improvement culture and activities, identifying opportunities for process optimization and implement improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness across the employee lifecycle. Utilize AI, technology and automation to streamline HR processes and conduct regular reviews of PSH operations and implement best practices.
  • Ensures compliance of HR activities with existing policies, relevant legislative requirements, regulations and internal guidelines, managing risks associated with PSH operations and implement mitigation strategies, including maintaining confidentiality and data security of employee information.

Leadership & Team Management:

  • Leads team members, planning activities, setting objectives, performance goals and monitoring and continuously improving performance.
  • Coaches and cultivates the team towards achievement of business and employee objectives, supporting the growth and capability development of team members and fostering an environment of continuous improvement, learning, growth and innovation.
  • Enables team members to provide deep insights into their local requirements to support both businesses and employees effectively.

You will shine in this role, when you have:

  • Desirably 10 years of experience in HR, with at least 5 years in a managerial role within an HR Shared Service Centre.
  • Strong knowledge of HR processes and best practices across the employee lifecycle.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Cultural sensitivity and an ability to lead virtual teams across different cultures
  • Proficiency in HR systems and tools, particularly SuccessFactors, Employee Central and Service Now / Zendesk.
  • Empathy and a service-minded approach.
  • Passionate about improving the imperfect – we are constantly looking for ways to work smarter!
  • Exceptional communicator who’s hard-coded to keep people updated and informed
  • Demonstrate a genuine desire to make an impact on Wärtsilä people

As a member of People Support Hub Leadership Team and the Europe HR Leadership, the PSH Team Lead Europe contributes to setting the PSH direction and achieving organizational goals, by partnering and collaborating closely with other HR teams, particularly Local HR, Talent Acquisition, HR Business Partners and Centres of Excellence.
