Role Description

Abbey Capital is seeking an outstanding person to join our highly motivated team of developers as an intern for a duration of between 6 and 8 months commencing in October/November 2025.


We build bespoke software in an interesting and high-energy hedge fund environment, using cutting-edge tools. The role will involve providing support and enhancements for existing systems and working closely with our internal teams. Supported applications may cover domains including data ingestion, trade reconciliation, offsetting and exposure calculation, data orchestration, analytics, and reporting.


The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with a variety of technologies which may include Python, SQL, React, .Net, AWS and GIT, and will be writing code every day. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in a highly sought-after domain.


Abbey Capital operates a hybrid work model, with staff in the office Monday to Thursday and flexibility for personal circumstances.


What We Are Looking For

The ideal candidate will have an excellent academic record combined with a strong work ethic and ability to adapt to working with different technologies. They will have the flexibility to work as part of a team and be self-motivated and committed to deliver projects. 


Essential Skills and Experience

  • Graduated with (or on track for) a 1st or 2nd class honours
  • Computer Science / Engineering / Maths / Finance Degree
  • High standard of spoken and written English language communication skills


Desirable

  • Demonstrable programming ability in at least one OO language Desirable
  • Strong Python and SQL skills a distinct advantage
  • Knowledge in any of AWS or GIT a plus
  • Financial services knowledge desirable but not a requirement
