What Is The Role
The Observability team is in charge of developing solutions that focus on application developers and engineers that run infrastructure and services supporting these applications. Elasticsearch is an efficient datastore for logs, metrics, and application traces, supporting the three pillars of observability. The Observability team builds and maintains solutions that make getting insights from this data turnkey and efficient, such as our APM, Infrastructure Monitoring, Logs, Synthetic Monitoring, and OpenTelemetry solutions. When developing these solutions, we think about the problem end-to-end: how do we automatically collect data from common data sources, how do we store it efficiently in Elasticsearch, how do we present this information to the user, and what actions do we take on the insights from the data? All of these aspects are important in bringing a turnkey solution to the market.

Our work focuses on the user experience and UI components and APIs that we build in Kibana and Grafana that serve as the window into our customer’s data.

What You Will Be Doing
- Building advanced capabilities into the Elasticsearch data source Grafana plugin
- New and existing Observability products that we deploy and run in a variety of ways (from self-managed to full SaaS)
- Developing the user experience for Observability applications in Kibana using TypeScript/React
- Collaborating as part of a close-knit team of great engineers who mentor, support, and challenge each other
- JavaScript programming skills with 5+ years developing web application experience
- Experience with Go development
- A creative individual with an enthusiastic interest towards technology and web development
- A willingness to learn in a fast paced and distributed environment
- Computer Science (or related) degree or some kind of technical bootcamp experience
- Bonus: Front-end framework experience (for example React, Angular, Vue)
- Bonus: Experience with Typescript and/or Node.js
- Bonus: Experience in open source
- Bonus: Familiarity with Observability and/or Elasticsearch
- Bonus: Familiarity with GenAI
