Job Description
Tasks
- Perform pre-installation wireless site surveys using Ekahau tools.
- Document existing Wi-Fi coverage and AP placements (from Airwave data + site walk).
- Verify mounting positions, ceiling/structure conditions, and cabling readiness.
- Remove legacy Aruba APs, Wireless LAN Controllers (WLCs), and redundant cabling.
- Install and mount new Cisco access points as per design and floor plans.
- Re-patch switches as required to support new APs.
- Apply visible labels (AP name + MAC address) on all installed APs (readable from floor).
- Conduct post-installation wireless surveys (heatmaps, coverage validation).
- Run functional testing using client-provided scripts (SSID, meeting rooms, device validation).
- Record cabling and switch patching details for each AP (port IDs, switch names).
- Provide pre- and post-installation Ekahau project files and reports.
- Ensure safe disposal of removed hardware (WEEE-compliant).
- Provide on-site Day One support after deployment for troubleshooting.
- Coordinate with client teams for WLC integration (rack space, power, base configs, IP provisioning).
Requirements
- Hands-on experience with Ekahau (Sidekick) or equivalent Wi-Fi survey tools.
- Strong knowledge of wireless AP replacement projects (Aruba to Cisco preferred).
- Understanding of structured cabling, patch panels, switch port mapping, PoE, multi-gig uplinks.
- Experience in physical installation, mounting APs, labeling, and safe removal of legacy hardware.
- Familiarity with WLC installation and validation (rack space, power, console connection).
- Skilled in preparing technical documentation (heatmaps, AP location maps, cabling records).
- Comfortable working at height (ladders/lifts/scaffolds).
- English proficiency (spoken and written) for global site coordination and reporting.
- Eligible to work in the respective country of deployment (sites are global).
Location
- (Site addresses will be shared before deployment).
- Work is on-site at client offices during standard business hours (local site time).
Other Conditions
- Must comply with local site safety and work-at-height regulations.
- Professional and client-facing behavior required.
- Hardware (APs, WLCs) and licenses will be provided by the client.
- Out-of-hours or weekend work may be required depending on site access (uplifted rates apply).
- Engineers must coordinate closely with Balata/CDW project managers for scheduling and reporting.
