We are now recruiting for the exciting role of Project Manager, to be involved in industry leading, cutting-edge design project for a new type of power station.
This role, reporting to the Senior Manager – Programme Capability in the PMO, will provide project management support to a varied range of project or programme scopes of work. The role will support the capability development and delivery readiness of the Programme Directorate in order to ensure it has the right people, processes and tools to deliver both internal and external projects and programmes successfully. This role will have high levels of engagement across the Programme Directorate and with other functions across the business. This role will involve managing a number of projects and will provide support to the Senior Manager – Programme Capability. The role will require a high level of project and programme management experience.
Key Results & What can be achieved in the role
The key results and outcomes of the role are as follows:
- Work with key internal stakeholders to understand programme capability and readiness requirements, key deliverables, timelines and resources; then monitor the performance and status of the deliverables.
- Report performance and escalate issues to the Senior Manager – Programme Capability. Ensure on-time and on-budget project delivery of their own projects.
- Ensure project plans are devised and kept up to date.
- Roll out and embed project management processes, tools and templates, and ensure adherence to these.
- Identify and implement improvements to the organisation’s processes and ways of working.
- Ensure compliance with project management processes and procedures.
- Create a positive and productive work environment both within the project team and across other business functions.
- Document lessons learned and apply these in future work.

Key Selection Criteria
Project management
- Knowledge: The Project Manager needs to be familiar with project management methodologies and tools. They should also have a good understanding of risk management, budget management, and change management.
- Experience: Should also have experience managing projects. This should be demonstrated by previous on-the-job experience. There should be previous experience of setting up and delivering complex projects. Experience of working in teams developing schedules and budgets to achieve outcomes including monitoring the performance of a complex project or programme. Experience in delivering transformation/change projects across teams, which require strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Skills: A variety of project management skills, such as planning, scheduling, budgeting, risk management, and change management.
- Technical skills: Knowledge of specific software and tools (training can be provided where gaps exist), including Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, ARM, SAP, Excel, Power BI and Power Apps.
- Experience in planning, risk management, managing dependencies and driving to the agreed deployment plan/ schedules.
- Experience of change management and change control.
- Understanding priorities and benefits management to enable change and escalation.
- Experience in the deployment of processes and new ways of working.
- Understanding of project and programme governance.
- Experience influencing and using inter-personal skills to communicate effectively across all levels of the organisation and to simplify complex topics and communicate to a wide range of stakeholders.
- Communication skills: Have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Able to communicate clearly and effectively with a variety of stakeholders.
- Industry knowledge: Have a good understanding of the SMR industry. Including knowledge of the regulatory environment, the competitive landscape, and the latest trends and developments.
- Leadership: Be a strong leader, able to motivate and inspire the team members to achieve their goals.
- Communication: Be an excellent communicator. Should be able to communicate clearly and effectively with a variety of stakeholders, including engineers, managers, and customers.
- Organisation: Be highly organised, able to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously and keep track of all the details.
- Problem-solving: Identify and solve problems effectively, be able to come up with creative solutions to unexpected challenges.
- Adaptability: Be adaptable, able to change course quickly and easily in response to changes in the project or the environment.
We anticipate paying a salary of between £48,000 - £62,500 DOE plus:-
- Bonus - Performance related target opportunity 12.5%
- Benefits Allowance – £2,200 per annum, enabling you to create a bespoke package
- Pension - 12% employer and 6% employee contributions.
- Holidays - 28 days holiday (+ public holidays) and the ability to buy or sell up to 4 days.
- Private Medical Insurance - BUPA single cover health care
- Life Assurance - 6x pensionable pay
- £250 - One-off payment for new starters for home office purchases
