About Huawei Finland R&D
With 28 sites across Europe and over 2000 researchers, Huawei’s European Research Institute (ERI) oversees fundamental and applied technology research, academic research cooperation projects, and strategic technical planning across our network of European R&D facilities. Huawei Finland Research Center was established in 2012. Main Responsibilities:
- Research, design and implement novel mobile imaging and image/video processing algorithms
- Stay on top of the latest imaging technologies and AI algorithms to expand the limits of the current state of the art
- Explore new camera application areas and discover opportunities to innovate current mobile photography experience
- PhD Students in computer vision, machine learning, or other relevant fields preferably with a focus on computational photography, image/video restoration, generative AI, or novel view synthesis
- Proven track record of innovations demonstrated by publications at leading journals and conferences such as CVPR, ICCV, ECCV and NeurIPS
- Proficiency in Python and DL frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras)
- Solid understanding of mathematical foundation of AI algorithms, numerical optimization, linear algebra, and probability theory
- Knowledge and interest in mobile camera development and photography in general
- Preference goes to candidates who are currently engaging / have previous experience in technology cooperation projects / joint cultivation projects
- Fluent in English, Fluency in Finnish or Mandarin would be an asset but not mandatory
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills along with effective documentation and presentation abilities
- Energetic and a team player
- Curious and persistent mindset for solving tough problems
The internship will begin in 2026 and will last 3 months or longer. The exact start date and duration will be agreed with the selected candidate. Students who are seeking a longer internship or wishing to complete their thesis are welcome to apply.
