Head of Operational Risk

Due to business requirements, we are now looking to acquire the services of an experienced Head of Operational Risk.

Key Responsibilities:

This is an excellent opportunity to strengthen and drive the operational risk framework of the Bank which includes risk identification, assessment, management, monitoring and reporting of operational risks, with particular focus on the Basel 3.1 requirements for Pillar 1 operational risk capital requirements, model risk management, risk analytics and insight, risk appetite and MI reporting.

• Oversight of the Operational Risk team as the second line of defence in the day-to-day execution
• and management of the operational risk framework elements to include: incident reporting, risk & control self-assessment, new product risk assessment, issues management, control assurance and key risk indicators.
• Support the Chief Risk Officer to strengthen the operational risk framework and strategy for the Bank. This includes model risk governance and controls, enterprise top operational risk development, risk appetite metrics, enterprise risk register, operational risk loss register and control inventory framework.
• Enhance the Bank’s approach to Pillar 1 and Pillar 2 capital assessment and scenario analysis to ensure it meets Basel 3.1 requirements.
• Support the Chief Risk Officer to manage and enhance the risk committee reports to ensure the dashboard on risk reporting and performance is appropriate.
• Oversight of the Enterprise Risk Management Framework, developing and maintaining all operational risk policies and procedures, including the policies and procedures for recording loss data.

Key Skills/Experience:

Candidates will have a strong advantage if:

• They have second line of defence Operational Risk Management experience within financial services
• They have some exposure to the Basel 3.1. standards for operational risk.
• They have experience of change leadership or transformation within the operational risk environment; and/or
• They have developed technical expertise in IT risk or cyber risk management from a 1LoD or 2LoD perspective.
• A proven track record in operational risk managerial roles.
• Solid quantitative and qualitative analytical skills, attention to detail and strong excel skills.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills (both written and oral).
