The role of Senior Data Scientist will inspire and support our product, sales, leadership, and marketing teams with actionable insights gained from interrogating company and external data. The role holder must derive opportunities for product and process optimization from large data sets and use models to test the effectiveness of different courses of action. This is a hybrid role based in our Dublin City Centre office 3 days per week.
What you will do
Designing and implementing a roadmap of analytics work to provide strategic recommendations to business functions. The Senior Data Scientist will be responsible for mentoring other Data Scientists and BI team members and working with stakeholders throughout the organization to identify opportunities for leveraging company data to drive business actions. They will also be tasked with transforming data management with best practices, performing incident and reliability analysis as required and ensuring the accuracy of the collection, and documentation, of requirements for strategic projects.
Main tasks will include:
- Assist in development and management of a BI and Analytics Roadmap of Data Science and Advanced analytics initiatives.
- Inspire various business functions with actionable business insights.
- Present to Senior Leadership to help shape the strategic direction based on analytics insights.
- Transform contributions of the BI team beyond regular KPI reporting.
- Reliably advise and train the business on statistical formulations.
- Oversee planning and analysis of product delivery trials.
- Extend the capabilities and scope of data used to external sources in the BI team.
- Mine and analyse data from company databases to drive optimization and improvement of product development, marketing techniques and business strategies.
- Assess the effectiveness and accuracy of new data sources and data gathering techniques.
- Plan and implement best practices as they relate to Data Science, advanced analytics, AI, data quality and governance strategies.
- Gather Requirements, objectively critique methodologies and act as a Solution Architect and advisor for data science and AI related initiatives.
- Coordinate with different functional teams to implement models and monitor outcomes.
- Research data science and AI trends and technological innovations to make appropriate development recommendations.
- Mentor members of the wider BI team on advanced analytics practices.
- Identify areas for improvements for reliability, efficiencies and adaptability – in that order.
What we are looking for
- A degree or masters Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science or a related discipline.
- 8+ years of experience manipulating data sets and building statistical models
- Extensive experience with Machine learning techniques (clustering, decision tree learning, artificial neural networks, etc.) and their real-world advantages/drawbacks.
- Statistical computer languages (R, Python, etc.) to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets.
- Exceptional analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities.
- Technical Skills: Very strong Python/R/SAS/SPSS development skills, strong development and design skills, PowerBI development, Knowledge of data warehouse methodologies.
