As the iOS Director at Backbase, you hold a pivotal role that integrates strategic leadership, technical expertise, and mentorship within the iOS development domain.

Meet the Job

Your primary objective is to shape the direction of Backbase’s iOS mobile discipline while also serving as a recognized authority in the broader engineering landscape. You will report to the VP of Engineering for Backbase channels, and together with your peers for Android and Web, you will help shape the technical vision for our product’s digital channels and the technical guidelines for its development.

• Lead iOS strategy and best practices at Backbase, aligning development efforts with company objectives and staying updated on industry trends.
• Drive client engagement by gathering feedback to enhance satisfaction, while representing the iOS discipline and fostering collaboration within the iOS Guild.
• Oversee recruitment and talent management for iOS engineers, ensuring successful hiring outcomes and guiding team structure.
• Serve as the main expert on iOS development, leading architecture and quality assurance efforts to meet high standards of quality and security.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, customer success, and product management to ensure successful implementation of iOS projects and products.
• Assume the role of product tech director for iOS within R&D, shaping technical roadmaps, driving innovation, and leading developer enablement initiatives.

As the future iOS Director at Backbase, you play a pivotal role in driving iOS strategy, technical excellence, and innovation within the organisation while also providing leadership and mentorship to engineering teams and therefore we believe to really take this role to the next level, we think you’ll need:

• Extensive experience in iOS development, with a proven track record of architecting iOS strategies and defining best practices.
• In-depth technical expertise in iOS architecture, quality assurance, and performance optimization, with a focus on meeting high standards of quality, security, and accessibility.
• Strong leadership skills, demonstrated by the ability to coordinate change management efforts, resolve technical issues, and maintain product consistency across teams.
• Proven track record of successful cross-functional collaboration, including experience working with professional management and product development teams to ensure the successful implementation of iOS projects and products.
• Exceptional communication and client engagement skills, including experience in gathering and implementing client feedback to drive improvement initiatives.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor teams, including experience in recruitment, talent management, and fostering collaboration within a technical guild or similar structure.
