Job Title: Java developer Senior Backend Engineer

Location: Zurich, Switzerland (Hybrid for 3 days onsite/ week).

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced backend engineer with strong expertise in Java, Kubernetes (K8s), and PostgreSQL. The ideal candidate will play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining scalable backend systems and microservices. Experience or familiarity with Wealth Management (WM) systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Java.
• Deploy and manage containerized applications using Kubernetes.
• Optimize and maintain PostgreSQL databases for performance and scalability.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
• Ensure high performance, responsiveness, and reliability of applications.
• Implement best practices in CI/CD, monitoring, and logging.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues in a timely manner.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and code reviews.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Strong proficiency in Java (Spring Boot preferred).
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes (K8s) for container orchestration.
• Deep understanding of PostgreSQL including query optimization and schema design.
• Experience with RESTful APIs and microservices architecture.
• Familiarity with DevOps tools and practices (Docker, Helm, GitOps, etc.).
• Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience or knowledge in Wealth Management (WM) systems.
• Experience working in Agile/SCRUM environments.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).

Education:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
