CartonCloud is a SaaS company based in the Gold Coast, Australia. Our Engineering team builds a product that genuinely delights our customers, improving their daily operations in the supply chain and logistics industry throughout Australia, New Zealand and North America.

As we continue expanding internationally, our Customer Impact Squad (CIS) plays a critical role in keeping our customers moving by resolving issues, enhancing their experience, and driving technical optimisations that improve reliability and efficiency. We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join this team and help shape how our platform performs at scale.

Our Role

Our CIS team is at the heart of CartonCloud’s customer experience, ensuring our platform is reliable, performant, and continually improving. We’re evolving beyond reactive support to focus on strengthening system reliability, preventing recurring issues, and driving impactful technical improvements. While solving problems remains an important part of the role, the emphasis is on optimisation, root cause prevention, and delivering scalable solutions that have a real impact.

This role offers variety and ownership, giving you the chance to work across multiple technical areas, from investigating complex issues to enhancing platform performance and delivery processes. You’ll also contribute to customer-driven enhancements through our Rapid Application Delivery (RAD) queue. Our product, originally built with PHP and AWS, is shifting toward a React JS frontend and Java microservices backend, and you’ll play a key part in shaping this journey. In this role, every day brings something new, and the improvements you make will directly enhance the platform’s reliability, efficiency, and the experience for our customers.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Investigating and resolving complex technical issues, focusing on root cause analysis, reliability, and long-term prevention.
  • Developing and maintaining the PHP web applications, with contributions to React, Java services, and integrations.
  • Delivering fast, high-impact, customer-driven enhancements through the Rapid Application Delivery (RAD) queue.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to diagnose complex issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Proposing and implementing proactive technical improvements to reduce technical debt, optimising performance, and elevating system quality.

To be successful, we are looking for:

  • Demonstrated experience building and maintaining large-scale commercial PHP applications with strong full-stack skills including React, TypeScript, and Java.
  • Experience with REST APIs; familiarity with AWS and CI/CD pipelines is a plus.
  • Ability to triage and resolve complex customer issues, dive deep into problems, and identify opportunities to improve the user experience.
  • Strong focus on writing high-quality, maintainable code and improving overall system performance and reliability.
  • Ability to take ownership of delivery, work with an agile mindset and collaborate as an integral team member.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
