About the role
We are seeking experienced User Experience (UX) Designers to contribute to the transformation of critical national systems for our federal government client.
Applicants without a current Baseline (or higher) Security Clearance will not be considered. Proven experience with Figma is also required. Please note, a Security Clearance is not the same as a Police Clearance
Location: Melbourne, Canberra, Brisbane.
Key responsibilities
- Lead user experience design activities across the delivery lifecycle (pre-discovery, discovery, design and delivery) within a multi-disciplinary Agile team.
- Facilitate co-design workshops and interviews with system owners, business units, and end-users.
- Develop user interface designs, wireframes, functional specifications, and interactive prototypes.
- Conduct user research and usability testing, documenting findings and presenting concepts to stakeholders.
- Promote user-centred design practices and demonstrate creativity in interaction design.
- Contribute to and enhance the existing design system
- Collaborate with Agile Coaches, Service Designers, and other team members to improve delivery outcomes.
- Identify opportunities for process and technology improvements.
- Foster a productive and collaborative working environment with business areas and stakeholders.
- Undertake additional duties as required.
Highly desirable criteria
- Experience working within large-scale digital transformation program.
- Previous involvement in government or public sector projects.
- Demonstrated ability to balance user-centred design with legislative and compliance requirements.
Desirable criteria
- Familiarity with election systems, legislative environments, or other highly regulated industries.
- Experience contributing to or evolving design systems.
- Exposure to business process re-engineering and data management projects.
Skills and experience
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in UX/UI design or a similar role.
- Proven ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams.
- Strong track record in user testing/usability testing, with solid knowledge of digital trends, tools, and technologies.
- Proficiency with Figma, Miro, and Adobe Creative Cloud.
- Strong conceptual, interaction, and information design skills.
- Excellent communication, creativity, flexibility, and energy.
