Company Description

The vision of the ERA Chair Foodomics project is to establish a research center at the University of Ljubljana (UL) focused on Metabolomics in Food and Nutrition. This initiative aims to unlock the research potential of UL while creating a dynamic and sustainable state-of-the-art research environment.


Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role located in Biotechnical Faculty, University of Ljubljana for a Research Support Positions - Established Researcher (R3) in the field of Metabolomics in Food and Nutrition. The work will aim mainly to conduct reserach in the filed of mass spectrometry applied to the study of food and nutritional biomarkers. It will involve conducting instrumental analysis and data analysis from samples. The successful candidate will be expected to develop and apply LC-MS based methods and GC - MS for the identification and quantification of small molecules in food and matrices such as plasma, urine and feces. 


Qualifications


  • Fingerprinting analysis (measuring all detectable analytes to identify differences),
  • Targeted analysis (quantification of a defined set of analytes),
  • Valorization of food production chains, including studies on metabolomics,
  • Manage scientific or developmental areas of general interest to the project.
  • Record data and keep detailed and accurate records, perform the quality control of the data produced, interpret the fragmentation trees and annotate the metabolites.
  • Transfer the data to open repositories selected for the Projects, and to produce regular written reports on the results.
  • Data elaboration and interpretation
  • Writing and submitting the projects

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams
  • PhD in a related field such as Metabolomics, Chemistry, Food Science, or Nutrition
  • Experience in metabolomics techniques and tools
  • Strong publication record in reputable scientific journals


Specific Requirements

The program is open to candidates with a PhD in Metabolomics, Bioinformatics, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or a related discipline. Candidates should demonstrate a strong interest in conducting collaborative research.
