Job Title: Backend Engineer

Location: YDS Group Head Office, LS11 8JT, Leeds

Type: Full-time, Office-based

Salary: Up to £55,000 per annum

About the Role

YDS Group is looking for a talented Backend Engineer to help us build reliable APIs and services that power automation and AI solutions in dental technology. You’ll work closely with frontend engineers and QA to deliver high-quality, scalable features that shape the future of digital dentistry.

What You’ll Do

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs.
• Work with MySQL and Postgres to design performant, reliable data models.
• Ensure system performance, scalability, and security.
• Collaborate with frontend teams to integrate APIs with Next.js applications.
• Build foundational systems using Django.
• Participate in architectural discussions and contribute to group-wide tech standards.

What We’re Looking For

• Strong experience with Django.
• Experience building on the Django admin (ideally with Unfold).
• Solid understanding of databases (MySQL, Postgres) and API design (REST/GraphQL).
• Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to write clean, maintainable, and testable code.
• Bonus: experience with AWS or other cloud platforms.
