Founded in 2017 by visionary directors Anthony and Joe Russo, AGBO is an artist-led, Academy Award–winning independent studio redefining global storytelling across film, television, and gaming. With 15 #1 openings and more than $7 billion at the box office, its hits include Marvel’s highest-grossing film Avengers: Endgame, the multi-Oscar-winning Everything Everywhere All at Once, and Netflix blockbusters The Gray Man and Extraction. AGBO’s Citadel universe has become a worldwide Prime Video sensation, while recent projects in post-production, include The Bluff (Amazon MGM) and The Whisper Man (Netflix). Upcoming releases include Citadel Season 2 and Marvel Studios’ epic Avengers: Doomsday (2026) and Avengers: Secret Wars (2027), both directed by the Russo Brothers and produced by AGBO.
In 2023, AGBO welcomed Donald Mustard—former Chief Creative Officer at Epic Games and co-creator of Fortnite—as a partner. Mustard brings a bold creative vision to AGBO: to expand what storytelling can be through immersive, interconnected worlds that span across media. We’re building the future of storytelling—and we’re looking for bold, creative minds to help shape it. If you’re ready to help define what comes next, we’d love to meet you.
Position Summary
AGBO is seeking a “World Artist / Dungeon Mastermind” to join our Interactive team. This unique hybrid role blends the eye of an artist with the imagination of a tabletop dungeon master. You’ll be responsible for implementing level design and environment art, adjusting and polishing world assets, and helping implement pipeline art. Beyond craft execution, you’ll help shape the structure and flow of our interactive worlds — building maps, spaces, and dungeons that invite exploration and discovery.
This is an opportunity for a creative world-builder who thrives at the intersection of art, design, and storytelling systems. While you won’t be writing narrative content, you’ll be shaping the stage on which those stories unfold, ensuring that environments, encounters, and spaces feel rich, alive, and narratively resonant.
This role is based in Raleigh, NC, and candidates located in or willing to relocate to the area are highly preferred, as close collaboration with our technical and creative teams is central to the position.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement level design and world art in support of gameplay and interactive systems.
- Ensure incoming assets from IP are integrated smoothly and meet quality standards.
- Collaborate with designers, writers, and technical artists to ensure environments support narrative intent and gameplay goals.
- Act as a “world architect,” developing maps, layouts, and structures that create engaging spaces for story-rich experiences.
- Adjust and refine assets to improve cohesion, style consistency, and playability.
- Proactively identify opportunities to enhance the player’s sense of exploration and immersion through level and environmental design.
- Maintain documentation, workflows, and best practices for asset integration and level creation.
- Implement using a variety of in-house tools built on top of the Godot Engine.
- 5+ years of professional experience in game development, with a focus on level design and/or environment art.
- A portfolio demonstrating both level design work and visual art contributions.
- Demonstrated ability to merge strong artistic execution with narrative design - ideally someone with experience leading RPG campaigns or creating immersive RPG storytelling, combined with the skills to deliver AAA-quality game art.
- Experience running in-game events and driving real-time world-building, with a focus on dynamic storytelling and live content creation—not just static environment setup.
- Experience working in game engines (Godot, Unity, Unreal, or equivalent).
- Strong artistic eye for composition, spatial design, and player readability.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, able to work across creative and technical disciplines.
- A passion for interactive storytelling and world-building.
- (Bonus) Experience as a tabletop dungeon master or running narrative-driven RPG campaigns.
- (Bonus) Prior work in isometric-level design or game spaces.
- (Bonus) Familiarity with Godot Engine content creation pipelines.
